HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MR. DICKENS!

Today we are celebrating the 200th anniversary of one of the most important Victorian writers, Mr. Charles Dickens. The English department is preparing some activities to approach Dickens' world to our students. You can join us in the celebration commenting on this entry or on Twitter by using the hashtags #Dickens2012 and #englishtdp.

Today's doodle by Google

“My meaning simply is, that whatever I have tried to do in life, I have tried with all my heart to do well; that whatever I have devoted myself to, I have devoted myself to completely; that in great aims and in small, I have always been thoroughly in earnest.”
David Copperfield

MY HERO : A SCHOOL PROJECT
In Hachiko, the film we recently watched, the hero was a dog
and it was a beautiful story of love and loyalty.
There are many other heroes ( men, women, children, even animals)
whose story could also be worth telling.
Why don't we have a look at some of those stories?

Task 1
Read the summary of some of the stories in this website

Task 2
Decide what kind of story you're going to tell.
Use the following questions as a guide for your writing.

• Who is your hero?
• Where and when did he/she live?
• What did he/she do?
• Why is this person important for you / for other people / for the rest of humanity..?

Important!!
Use Google Docs to write your essay.
(Remember to allow the teacher see and EDIT your page!!)
Once your writing has been corrected, you can copy and paste it in your personal blog.
GOOD LUCK!!
